2. Personal Information We Collect

When you reach out to us, request information, or sign up to hear from us, we may ask for the following details:

  • Email address
  • First name and last name
  • Phone number
  • Street address
  • City
  • State or Province
  • ZIP / Postal code

We do not seek out sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, financial account details, or health records) through our Site. If you choose to share such details with us directly for example, during the enrollment process we will handle that information in line with this Policy and applicable law.

3. Cookies, Analytics & Similar Technologies

Like most websites, ours uses small data files and similar tools to understand how visitors interact with our pages. This may include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site that referred you to us.

Google Analytics. We rely on Google Analytics, a service from Google LLC, to measure Site traffic and usage patterns. Google Analytics places cookies on your device to gather aggregate, non-identifying data about your visit, which helps us understand what’s working on our Site and what isn’t. Details on how Google handles this data are available in Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. If you’d prefer not to be measured by Google Analytics, you can install the opt-out browser add-on found at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings menu. Doing so may limit some Site features, but the core content will remain accessible.

4. Advertising Through Google & Meta

We promote Little Wonders Montessori through advertising channels operated by Google and Meta Platforms, Inc. (which runs Facebook and Instagram). These platforms may place their own cookies or pixels on your browser to help us reach prospective families with relevant messaging and to measure how our campaigns perform.

Google. Read about Google’s approach to partner-site data and adjust your ad settings at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://adssettings.google.com.

Meta Platforms. Review Meta’s privacy practices and manage your advertising preferences at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/ and https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences/.

Under the CCPA/CPRA, providing identifiers or browsing activity to advertising partners such as Google and Meta for cross-context behavioral advertising may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See Section 8 below for how to exercise your rights regarding this practice.

5. Emails From Us

We send emails to respond to your questions, share enrollment and program information, and where you’ve opted in keep you updated with newsletters, events, and promotional content. We only send marketing-style emails to those who have affirmatively signed up to receive them, and you’re free to withdraw that permission whenever you like.

Every marketing email includes a straightforward unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also ask us directly to stop sending promotional messages by reaching out through the contact details in Section 12. Note that administrative or transactional emails needed to respond to a specific request you’ve made may continue even after you unsubscribe from marketing content.

6. How We Put This Information to Use

Personal information collected through the Site helps us to:

  • Reply to questions from prospective and current families
  • Share program details, tuition information, tours, and event invitations
  • Deliver newsletters and promotional emails to those who opted in
  • Keep the Site running smoothly and improve it over time
  • Understand Site traffic patterns through Google Analytics
  • Run and evaluate advertising campaigns on Google and Meta
  • Meet legal obligations and protect the safety of our students, families, staff, and school community

7. Who We Share Information With

We don’t sell personal information in exchange for money. That said, we do share information in limited circumstances, including with:

  • Vendors who support our operations, such as hosting providers, email platforms, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Advertising partners Google and Meta Platforms for campaign delivery and measurement
  • Outside professionals, such as attorneys or accountants, when their advice is needed
  • Regulators, courts, or law enforcement, if legally compelled to do so
  • A successor organization, should the school be involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

As explained further in Section 8, sharing information with advertising partners like Google and Meta for behavioral advertising purposes can be classified as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents are granted specific rights over their personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (together, the “CCPA/CPRA”). This section explains those rights and how you can act on them.

8.1 What We Collect

Over the past twelve (12) months, we have collected these categories of personal information, as defined under the CCPA/CPRA:

  • Identifiers such as name, email address, phone number, mailing address
  • Internet or network activity: Site usage information gathered through Google Analytics
  • General geolocation data inferred from your IP address

We do not knowingly collect “sensitive personal information” under the CPRA (such as Social Security numbers, precise geolocation, or health data) through normal use of the Site.

8.2 Where It Comes From

Personal information reaches us either directly when you fill out a form, email us, or call us or automatically, through cookies and analytics as you browse the Site.

8.3 Why We Collect and Whether We “Sell” or “Share” It

We use and disclose personal information for the purposes outlined in Sections 6 and 7. As noted, our use of advertising tools from Google and Meta may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” of identifiers and internet activity information under the CCPA/CPRA, typically in connection with cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information belonging to consumers under 16 years of age without affirmative opt-in authorization.

8.4 Rights Available to You

Subject to verification and any applicable legal exceptions, if you are a California resident you have the right to:

  • Right to Know: Ask us to disclose what personal information we’ve collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we’ve shared, sold, or disclosed it to.
  • Right to Delete: Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law.
  • Right to Correct: Ask us to fix inaccurate personal information in our records.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: Tell us not to sell or share your personal information. You can do this anytime using the contact details in Section 12, or through recognized opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), which we honor.
  • Right to Limit Sensitive Data Use: Where applicable, limit how we use any sensitive personal information that requires an opt-out.
  • Right to Equal Treatment: We won’t penalize you for exercising any CCPA/CPRA right no denied services, higher prices, or reduced quality as a consequence.
  • Right to Data Portability: Request your personal information in a portable format you can take elsewhere.
  • Right to Appeal: If we decline a request you’ve made, you have the right to appeal that decision.

8.5 Submitting a Request

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12 (“Contact Us”). We’ll take reasonable steps to confirm it’s really you  typically by matching the information you provide against our records before acting on the request. You may also name an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, provided we can verify that person’s authority to act for you.

We aim to respond to verified requests within the timeframe the law requires (generally 45 days, with one possible 45-day extension when reasonably needed).

9. CalOPPA Notices

As required under the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), we confirm the following:

  • This Privacy Policy is posted in a visible location on our homepage and can be reached from any page across the Site.
  • The date this Policy took effect appears at the top of the document, and we’ll update that date whenever the Policy is revised.
  • Do Not Track Signals: Our Site currently does not alter its behaviour in response to browser-based “Do Not Track” signals. We do, however, recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid way for California residents to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information, as covered in Section 8.4.
  • Third-Party Data Collection: As explained in Sections 3 and 4, outside companies including Google (via Google Analytics) and Meta Platforms may track your activity across our Site and other websites over time.
  • Updating Your Information: You can ask us to review, correct, or delete personal information you’ve previously shared with us by reaching out through Section 12.
  • Questions about this Policy can be directed to us at any time using the contact information in Section 12.

10. Information From Children

Little Wonders Montessori serves young children, and as part of our enrollment and admissions process, we may collect personal information relating to children under the age of 13 typically supplied to us by a parent or guardian rather than the child directly. We take children’s privacy seriously and aim to align our practices with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) where it applies to us.

  • Any personal information we collect about a child under 13 is provided with the knowledge and involvement of that child’s parent or legal guardian.
  • We do not knowingly invite or allow children under 13 to submit personal information through the Site on their own, without a parent or guardian’s involvement.
  • We do not use information collected about a child under 13 to target that child with behavioural or interest-based advertising.
  • Parents and guardians can ask us to review, delete, or stop collecting their child’s personal information at any time by contacting us through Section 12.
  • We hold on to a child’s personal information only for as long as it’s genuinely needed for example, to manage an active enrollment.

If you’re a parent or guardian and you believe your child has shared personal information with us in a way that falls outside what’s described above, please get in touch right away using Section 12 so we can look into it.

11. How We Protect & Retain Information

We keep personal information only as long as it serves a genuine purpose described in this Policy responding to your questions, managing enrolment, meeting legal requirements, or resolving disputes. We’ve put reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards in place to guard against unauthorized access, misuse, disclosure, or loss of your information. That said, no system connected to the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we can’t promise perfect protection.
